Gym Bag Fabrics Compared: Water-Resistant Oxford, Coated and Laminated

Our gym and travel bags use four kinds of outer fabric: water-resistant Oxford, waterproof Oxford, water-resistant coated fabric and waterproof laminated fabric. Oxford is the everyday choice for a bag that goes to the gym and back; coated and laminated fabrics are for bags that meet wet kit, rain or poolside floors more often. Below is what each one is, which of our bags uses it, and how to decide.
What are the four fabrics?

Which fabric suits which use?
- Daily gym trips, weekend travel: water-resistant Oxford. It keeps its shape, takes a printed or embroidered logo well and is easy to wipe down.
- Wet kit, swimming, outdoor sports: a waterproof Oxford, coated or laminated fabric, ideally with a separate wet pocket or shoe compartment so damp items stay apart from dry ones.
- Bags carried in the rain or on the move: a coated or laminated outer, with a trolley sleeve if the bag also travels with luggage.
"Water-resistant" means the fabric sheds splashes and light rain; it is not a promise that the bag can be submerged. If your market needs a specific test result, tell us before sampling so we can discuss what is possible.
Does the fabric change the logo method?
It can. Smooth Oxford takes screen printing, heat transfer and embroidery well. On coated and laminated fabrics we check the logo method on the sample first, because the surface affects how ink or thread sits. Every sample shows your actual logo on your actual fabric before bulk production.
How do I choose for a custom order?
- Start from how the bag will be used, not from the fabric name.
- Pick one of our existing styles that already uses a suitable fabric — that keeps you on the lower entry quantity.
- If you need a different fabric or colour, that becomes a custom build.
Choosing an existing style with your logo starts at MOQ from 50 pcs*. Custom colors and structure available on request (from 500 pcs). Sample 7-15 days, subject to style complexity and confirmed per project; bulk production usually takes 15-30 days, confirmed in your quotation.
